Founder & Head Instructor
For JP Perron, martial arts has never been about trophies or "sport" points, it’s about the reality of self-protection and the strength of character built on the mats.
As the founder of Vanguard Self-Defense Academy, JP developed the SenShoGo Ryu system to bridge the gap between traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and the needs of the modern world. His mission is simple: to provide the Chesterville community and surrounding areas with effective, reality-based training that builds unshakeable confidence in children and elite self-defense skills in adults.
The Vanguard Philosophy
"I didn't open Vanguard to be just another martial arts school," JP says. "I wanted to create a space where discipline and tradition meet practical application. Whether I’m teaching a 6-year-old how to stand up to a bully or an adult how to stay calm under pressure, the goal is always the same: Get home safe."
Beyond the Mats
When he isn't on the mats, JP is focused on building a family-oriented community at the academy. He believes that elite training should be accessible to everyone, which is why he stands firmly behind Vanguard’s "Fair Pricing" mission. For JP, the true success of the academy isn't measured in belts, but in the confidence and resilience of his students.
